Application Procedures
To be an exchange student implies that your home university has a formal agreement for exchange studies with Laval University.
Here are the five steps you must follow in order to apply for an exchange program at FSA ULaval:
1. Nomination
Your exchange coordinator must nominate you for your exchange.
Any questions related with exchange possibilities at the Faculty of Business Administration at Laval University should be addressed to your home university coordinator.
2. Application form and general information
Once you have been nominated, you will receive an email with application procedures as well as links to general information regarding your exchange in Québec city.
Note that this application form must be filled by the deadlines and must be scanned and returned, along with the supporting documents, to the Laval coordinator.
Application deadlines:
- Fall semester: March 15th
- Winter semester: October 15th
3. Apply for courses
One to two months following your application, you will be sent a list of available courses, and a learning agreement to be filled out, signed by your academic advisor, and returned by email to the Laval academic coordinators.
4. Apply for Housing
If you apply within the application period, we can guarantee you a room in the on-campus residences. The residences are about a 10 minute walk from the Faculty of Business Administration.
Application periods:
- Fall semester 2012: 1st March – 31st May
- Winter semester 2013: 15th October – 30th November
5. Health insurance
There is mandatory health insurance policy at Université Laval for foreign students.
If you are not a citizen of a country that has signed a reciprocity agreement with the province of Québec, you will be billed automatically for the health insurance upon arrival. This insurance costs around $300 CAN/semester. This amount is subject to change.
The following countries have signed reciprocity agreements with the province of Quebec:
- Belgium
- Denmark
- Finland
- France
- Luxembourg
- Norway
- Portugal
- Sweden
Students from these countries will have the insurance fee waived only if they bring with them a document proving that they are registered in the health system in their home country. Please contact your exchange advisor for more details.
6. Welcome Week
All exchange students are invited to our Welcome Week, which takes place the week before the beginning of the semester. We strongly advise you to participate in this activity, as it facilitates your arrival and integration, and allows you to meet your new classmates from Québec and from all over the world.
Please read the First Steps at FSA ULaval section for more information about the welcoming activities at FSA ULaval.
